The Dick Chalmers Music Venue Program is an initiative to better serve staff of music venues across Central Texas with access to mental health care and substance use recovery services. Formed in memory of Chalmers, a co-creator of the program and longtime ambassador for the Red River Cultural District in Downtown Austin, the Music Venue Program is a fund to support the ongoing provision of mental healthcare services to members of the music venue community, recognizing that often times venue staff do not have access to health benefits and are frequently prone to mental health challenges, given the demands of the line of work.
