The Austin music scene would not be what it is without the contributions of Asleep at the Wheel. The group has opened the festival since its inception in 2002, and they will be continuing that tradition this year on the Honda Stage. Barton Hills Choir

Saturday, Oct 4 & 11 @ 12:15p – 12:45p — Austin Kiddie Limits

By far the cutest act at ACL this year! Led by the Barton Hills Elementary choir director Gavin Tabone, this choir consisting of 3rd-6th grade students doesn’t put on your average school music program. With additional contributions from professional musicians on guitar, bass and drums, these kids specialize in rock music from all eras. Performing annually at ACL Fest, you won’t want to miss these rock n’ roll tots!

Summer is never quite over when you’re listening to this Austin-based trio. Grab a friend because this group will make you shake your tail for 45 minutes under the shade of the Titos tent!

Briscoe

Friday, Oct 3 @ 5:30p – 6:30p — Lady Bird Stage

Before landing high-profile tours with Noah Kahan and Dave Matthews Band, this folk duo dominated the Austin music scene they call home. Fresh off their sophomore album, Heat of July, the band is bringing it all back home to party with us. Inspired by the cross-country tours that launched the duo into fame, we look forward to celebrating with them weekend one on the big stage.

S. L. Houser

Saturday, Oct 4 @ 12:15p – 12:45p — BMI Stage

The act I’m most excited about at ACL this year is former KUTX Artist of the Month S.L. Houser. S.L.’s album Hibiscus was one of the better releases of 2024 in Austin and I LOVED the song “Fever In My Eye” so much it was one of my top songs played in 2024. I love to see local acts get their just due and S.L. Houser has been making really good music for a long time and the ACL stage is perfect for her.

Next of Kin

Saturday, Oct 4 @ 1:00p – 1:45p — Tito’s Handmade Vodka Stage

There’s something so special about seeing Next of Kin live. Their three-part harmonies are incredible on a recording, but to see them execute them in person is the closest thing I can think of to seeing real-life magic. I can’t wait for the ACL crowd to experience that magic with those of us who know.

INOHA

Saturday, Oct 4 @ 1:30p – 2:15p — BMI Stage

Surf Punk lovers unite! This group, while not from Austin, is a Central Texas highlight through and through. If you are a fan of bands like “The Backseat Lovers” or “The Chats” you’re sure to have a fun time with these guys.

LP Giobbi

Saturday, Oct 4 @ 6:30p – 7:30p — Tito’s Handmade Vodka Stage

Former Artist of the Month is an Austin treasure turned international superstar, no doubt. So although we don’t get to see her in the city limits as much as me might like, each time we do catch LP Giobbi in person it’s a real ray of sunshine. And LP spreads that love far and wide – not just through her ecstatic live DJ sets – but also through her organization Femme House, which builds opportunities for women, gender-expansive, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+  creatives in the technical and behind the scenes areas of music. Her Rock the Park performance this year attracted a record number of folks to Mueller, and she is bringing all that magic back home to Zilker weekend one of ACL Fest this year!

Every time I see Geto Gala live, I feel JOY! And, who don’t want that?

Farmer’s Wife

Friday, Oct 10 @ 1:15p – 2:00p — Tito’s Handmade Vodka Stage

This is one of my most anticipated acts of the festival. Farmers Wife is for the kids who don’t mind an untied shoelace or loose thread every now and then. If you like your volume at one hundred and a lot left to the imagination, Farmer’s Wife is for you. From Austin, the group has gone from playing local shows around Central Texas to touring nationwide with the band Mothé in about two years. Through their use of heavy guitars and intense distortion, accompanied by vocalist, Molly Masson’s, siren-esque voice, you’re sure to travel into a grungy 90s dreamscape.

Strawbitty Yops

Saturday, Oct 11 @ 1:15p – 1:45p — Austin Kiddie Limits

If you’re looking for something family-friendly, this is the act for you! Strawbitty Yops is an Austin-based interactive music experience for children. With the goal of engagement and musical participation, this trio teaches about emotions and empowers children to problem-solve.

The Point.

Sunday, Oct 12 @ 1:45p – 2:30p — Beatbox Stage

September Artist of the Month, The Point. A. K. A Joe Roddy and Jack Montesinos, first started this project together in high school. Technically, that was only a few years ago but the two have been playing in the Austin music scene much much longer. The Austin Chronicle called them “Homegrown prodigy rockers”. The Point released their sophomore album, Maldito Animal, this past May and have been nonstop ever since, playing a Levitation night show this month and gracing the legendary ACL Fest stage this October.

The Huston-Tillotson University Jazz Collective

Sunday, Oct 12 @ 1:30p – 2:15p — Tito’s Handmade Vodka Stage

Jazz has always been an emphasis at Huston-Tillotson – the late Dr. James Polk was among their distinguished faculty. The University is the oldest learning institution in the city, yet their renowned Jazz Collective is modern and exciting. The Jazz Collective recently came away from Nashville with 1st Place in the Louis Armstrong HBCU Jazz competition, and are proud to be returning to the ACL stage.

— Jeff McCord, Former KUTX Music Director and Editor

Check em’ out:

Gina Chavez

Sunday, Oct 12 @ 4:00p – 4:30p — Austin Kiddie Limits

Queer, Catholic and unapologetically herself, former Artist of the Month, Gina Chavez possesses a warm, alluring voice that compels you to sit up straight and listen. The multi-ethnic Austin native has come a long way from when she picked up a guitar for the first time during college. She’s racked up 12 Austin Music Awards, recorded a well-received NPR Tiny Desk and embarked on multiple international tours, including performances as a U.S. State Department cultural ambassador. Now, she is taking her talents back to the ACL stage.
