The Austin City Limits Music Festival is back–and this year, it’s bigger than ever. Over the next two weekends, KUTX will be bringing you plenty of coverage from Zilker Park, from intimate live performances to interviews with some of the Fest’s biggest artists. Follow all the action here and on Twitter!
Below, check out exclusive performances from these artists, live from ACL Fest 2013:
Little Green Cars isn’t your typical country-rock outfit. For one thing, they’re from Ireland, which isn’t exactly a hotbed for the genre, but that hardly matters. With fantastic male/female harmonies, Little Green Cars has become yet another UK band that has effortlessly captured a distinctly Americana sound.
Bright Light Social Hour is rock band from Austin. But they love to bend the genre. For their debut self titled album, Bright Light Social Hour blended southern rock, hard dance, psychedelic blues, and deep soul. And they cleaned up at the 2011 Austin Music Awards–taking home Band of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year.
Melding traditional blues with a darker strain of soul, Valerie June’s 2013 album Pushin’ Against A Stone is an intriguing listen. Her Tennessee roots shine through in her inventive playing as well as her “perfectly imperfect” voice, as she terms it.
