For their newest release, “Coyote (Living Free),” Austin folk rock outfit Good Field decamped to some ranchland in Lampasas, TX to draw inspiration from the hill country landscape and the animals that call it home. As you might have guessed from the song’s title, the relationship between the coyote and its prey captured the band’s imagination and inspired the hunting theme for the music video that accompanies the new song. For Good Field guitarist and vocalist Paul Price, watching the coyotes hunt was a profound experience.

The song is a part of a larger collection of works over the years that have been compiled and completed into a full album named Coyote. Contributions on the album include engineering and production from Jim Eno (Spoon), and mastering from Dan Duszynski (Loma, Cross Record). It is still undecided when the album will be fully released. Good Field collaborated with director, and campy B movie connoisseur, Zachary Scott. He was asked if he could come up with a visual representation of the song. What he came up with was perfect for the Halloween season.
