Born in Beaumont TX, Shinyribs is Kevin Russell’s Americana super group featuring a variety of tastes including country-soul, swamp-funk and tickle. All styles of American music are likely to be touched on, squeezed on, kissed on by this world-class band. Whether on his 6 string Uke or his Electric guitar or singing a cappella, Russell will entertain you like no one else.
About 40% of Shinyribs came into Studio 1A for a stripped down set. Russell, joined by the Shiny Soul Sisters of Alice Spencer and Kelley Mickwee, gave an intimate preview for their upcoming show at the Swan Songs Serenade tomorrow October 17th.
Swan Songs is a charity created by Christine Albert in 1992 to fulfill musical last wishes. Her organization arranges private concerts for individuals with a terminal illness or nearing the end of life at no cost to the family. Committed to supporting live music in the community, Swan Songs pays for musicians to come to the patient’s care facility and perform. The Swan Songs Serenade is their annual fundraiser to help support their honorable cause. The event will feature a silent and live auction, seated dinner and of course, a concert with the wonderfully talented Shinyribs. Aside from getting to see a fabulous concert from Shinyribs, you’ll be supporting a great cause by attending. The evening will start tomorrow at 6PM at the Riverbend Centre for the Arts.
