Anton Nel, winner of the first prize in the 1987 Naumburg International Piano Competition at Carnegie Hall enjoys a remarkable and multifaceted career that has taken him to North and South America, Europe, Asia, and South Africa. The Johannesburg native has captivated audiences and critics alike for the past four decades. In September 2000, Anton Nel was appointed as the Priscilla Pond Flawn Regents Professor of Piano and Chamber music at the University of Texas at Austin, where he teaches an international class of students and now heads the Division of Keyboard Studies. the famed pianist will be performing with the Austin Symphony Orchestra as part of their Mozart in Paris concert. The evening will feature Francis Poulenc’s Suit from Les Biches (The Does), Poulenc’s Concert Champêtre and Mozart’s Paris from his Symphony No. 31 some of his most popular work.
