The band members of Dr. Dog haven’t experienced the average trajectory of adulthood. After making music and touring for almost a decade and a half during and after college, they are now confronting adulthood head-on. In their new album Critical Equation, Dr. Dog explores themes of paranoia, loneliness, and fear by tackling songs with their trademark sentimentality. Lead singer Scott McMicken’s crooning voice artfully expresses adulthood’s trials and tribulations, even though their experiences may be different than the average person’s. Even though their touring schedule has been “hardcore,” the members of Dr. Dog are still able to find time for themselves and their reality. Before playing a show at ACL Live, they stopped by Studio 1A to give us a taste of Critical Equation.
