For a band whose frontman has been described as the “punk rocker Randy Newman,” PR Newman acts as a musical representation of Austin: very energetic, and a little bit weird. Lead singer Spencer Garland’s solo-project-turned-band is made up of eight seasoned Austin musicians coming together to create a genre-crossing opus with a classic rock’n’roll foundation. PR Newman stopped in for a late night session (and their first radio show!) in Studio 1A to perform two songs from their forthcoming debut album Turn Out. Be sure to catch their rocking, funky sound at Cheer Up Charlie’s on Thursday the 25th alongside Mean Jolene, Star Parks, and Batty Jr. Scroll down to listen to the tracks they performed both on and off the air below!
