Experimental percussion band, The Kraken Quartet, brings a collective sound that feels larger than life, a sonic boom of energy that shocks the system while remaining intimate with their music. Based out of Austin, the Kraken Quartet formed in 2011 and is made up of members, Chris Demetriou, Andrew Dobos, Taylor Eddinger, and Sean Harvey. Merging genres of classical, experimental, electronica and more, the band generates a type of music that explodes with intense sequences of thunderous percussion and moments of soft waves of chimes and synth, a sound reminiscent of the instrumental aspect of the band, Alt-J.
The Kraken Quartet were able to stop by Studio 1A and played some of their music for us. The band will be playing at the, Amid The Noise Festival, hosted by, Fast Forward Austin at 4th Tap Brewing Co-op, admission is free so get there early!
