Elephant Stone: “The Devil’s Shelter” (ft. Alex Maas)

The sitar has long been Elephant Stone’s weapon of choice, deployed by singer Rishi Dhir as a nod back to his ’60s influences but also used for some interesting textures. The Montreal band hues to the more colorful side of psych-rock, but on its latest single, Elephant Stone brandishes a very different weapon: a Black Angel. The group called in Alex Maas to lend his trademark shadow to an otherwise bubbly jam. “The Devil’s Shelter” finds Elephant Stone moving further onto the dance floor, only for Maas to darken the kaleidoscopic edges.
