Jonathan Terrell: “Mona” [The Hole Story]

Support for KUTX’s Love Austin Music Month coverage comes from Eldorado Cafe, embracing a community of folks who believe sharing food and music feeds the soul.

If every song is a story, then every songwriter must have stories about those songs. That’s the idea behind this new series from KUTX, The Hole Story. Taped live on the little front stage of Hole in the Wall – we’ve invited artists to not just perform, but also share the inspiration, meaning, or backstory behind each song.

Originally from Longview, Texas, Jonathan Terrell has called Austin home for more than 20 years, first stepping onto the Hole in the Wall stage in 2008. Over the years, Jonathan’s moved fluidly between country and rock, starting with a debut country album in 2008 to years fronting a rock band, Not in the Face, before circling back to his solo country work in 2015.

JT joined us back on that front stage of Hole in the Wall to perform songs and share stories from his latest album, Dove — a record he’s described as “goth disco country,” created with contributions from Adrian Quesada, members of Midland and Silverada, and even the drummer from Depeche Mode.
