All this week, the Song of the Day features artists playing this Saturday at Pachanga Fest.
After winning our contest, Austin’s Son de Rey will make their Pachanga Fest debut this Saturday. The band has been quickly picked up steam since debuting with Ojos Azules in 2012. Produced by Grammy-winner Fabian Hernandez, the EP shows off Son de Rey’s blend of cumbia and electronic pop, alongside an inventive take on Wham’s ’80s cheese classic “Careless Whisper.” Over the past few years, Son de Rey has earned a handful of Austin Music Award nominations, including Best Latin Band and Best New Act. Son de Rey plays Saturday, May 16 at 2 p.m. on the Alt.Latino/KUTX Patio.
