Tacocat: “I Hate The Weekend”

Tacocat: come for the name, stay for the not-messing-around punk rock. The Seattle band’s new album, Lost Time, is a blast of fresh air, emphasis on blast. The songs are small explosions that tackle big things: feminism, disconnection, The X-Files, “The Internet.”

“I Hate The Weekend” is a razor blade hidden in a fun-sized candy bar. The music–a breakneck mix of the Go-Gos crossed with the Buzzcocks–screams sunshine, but Tacocat’s Emily Nokes screams about something else: the weekend’s working stiffs, stuck catering to everyone else’s good time. As their Facebook says, “Don’t threaten me with a good time.”
