Twin Limb: “Long Shadow”

Twin Limb started making music with just accordion and drums–not the most likely of pairings, but the young Louisville, Kentucky group takes some unexpected turns. Lacey Guthrie and Maryliz Bender first teamed up in 2013, and their early incarnation focused on the natural atmosphere of the accordion. Their songs are folk-based, but with a droning, dirge-like ambiance.

Now with guitarist Kevin Ratterman on board, Twin Limb is taking their sound to another level. The debut single “Long Shadow” starts out with its feet planted firmly on the ground, but as the song reaches its crescendo, the band aims skyward. It’s a trick taken from Beach House’s playbook: start small, and then explode outward.
