Good Old War 5.17.16

Good Old War’s latest album, Broken Into Better Shape, provides the perfect soundtrack to a sunny afternoon. Soaked in nostalgia, the upbeat melodies create the feeling of perpetual summer vacation. Even the most melancholy of songs are laced with a tangible lyrical optimism. Unlike earlier albums, the band’s previously indie-folk sound has been quieted and replaced with a more polished pop sound. The remaining folk influence and mellow acoustics ring reminiscent of groups like The Avett Brothers, Local Natives, and Dr. Dog.

Coming up on it’s one year anniversary, Broken Into Better Shape is the band’s fourth studio album released on Nettwerk. In celebration, the trio have embarked on a summer tour. Stop by Mohawk tonight for a mid-week pick me up to see their intimate, acoustic set.

In case you miss it, KUTX scored a sneak peek today when Good Old War dropped by Studio 1A to play some tracks off the record. Stream the live performance below.
