Austin’s indie pop-rockers Wiretree embody the DIY music spirit.
Starting off as a solo project for Kevin Peroni’s homemade recordings, Wiretree grew to include Joshua Kaplan on guitar, Gregg White on guitar and keys, Rachel Peroni on bass, and Daniel Blanchard on drums after its 2007 debut. With songs both pleasantly familiar and catchy, Wiretree’s acoustic guitars and warm keys are reminiscent of the British Invasion’s light pop touch and early 2000’s sincerely melodic wave of indie. The band’s last release, 2013’s Get Up followed their previous releases in displaying the band’s steadily developing power pop sensibilities and musical storytelling, while adding a trickle of folk and touching warmth. The band has also just released their debut album Bouldin on vinyl for the first time.
You can see Wiretree performing live tomorrow, July 10th, at Lambert‘s and you can stream their music right here on KUTX.
