Producer Lloyd Maines said it best when he described Sons of Fathers as “Everly Brothers meets Neil Young and Merle Haggard and The Clash.” Their unique sound makes Sons of Fathers one of the most talked-about bands coming out of Texas today. Despite the band’s age, their music is timeless, perhaps a reflection of their greatest influences–the grandfather and father of founding members Paul Cauthen and David Beck. Cauthen (guitar and vocals), from Tyler, Texas began his singing career as a kid in church, learning guitar from his preacher grandfather who he claims was “one hell of a musician.” Beck (bass and vocals), a native of San Marcos, Texas is son of Bill Whitbeck, bassist for Robert Earle Keen. Cauthen and Beck, founding members of the band have since added Dess Stribling (drums), Regan Schmidt (lap steel, guitar), Tony Brown (guitar), and Bryan Mammel (keys) collectively making them Sons of Fathers. Check out their live performance in our studio right here!
