It’s no secret that the Austin Music Minute gets greedy for many great shows happening all at once on the same night. And occasionally, two badass shows will conveniently be at the same venue, like today’s featured Saturday funtime:
- Welcome to psych-noise rock for your dark soul, or as Austin Chronicle writer Alejandra Ramirez recently described most perfectly, “Swirling in black hole cosmos…” Dynamic duo SKLOSS celebrates the release of their EP Voices Travel Through This, a massive surge of fuzzed-up psych drone layers churning from the depths of the void. In other words, your happy place. Guitarist Sandy Carson and drummer Karen Skloss unleash the beast at their EP release show tonight, Saturday Sept. 10, at Hotel Vegas. It’s an early show, with doors at 6:30 p.m., SKLOSS lets loose at 7:30 p.m., and the annihilation continues with longtime AMM fave The Well at 8:15 p.m. Let the shreds commence.
- But it doesn’t stop there! The good times continue at Vegas with the ultimate AMM fangirl experience, starring KUTX Artist of the Month alum Chief Cleopatra. Songwriter Jalesa Jessie brings the rock to a distinctive R&B/hip-hop soulfire amalgam on her Walker Lukens-produced EP, Luna. Doors open at 9 p.m. for this show, and rock ‘n’ soul sibling trio Sol Y Motion start the damn thing at 10:15 p.m., followed by ATX (by way of Baton Rouge) R&B/soul/southern hip-hop kings THEBROSFRESH (“One word, all caps”) at 11 p.m. Chief Cleopatra takes over around 11:45 p.m.
Do all of it. Buy the merch. No behaving allowed.
