Superfónicos are the KUTX Artist of the Month for July 2024, powered by PNC Bank.
Superfónicos bring a Colombian sensibility to Austin’s Latin music scene. Spearheaded by singer Jaime Ospina’s love of the gaita, an indigenous Colombian flute, the band combines folk sounds with cumbia and psychedelic elements. Renaceré, the new album from Superfónicos, is the group’s boldest album yet. The album art is a good indication of what you’re going to get: exciting and enveloping music.
This week on My KUTX, bassist and songwriter Nicolas Sanchez returns for his third rodeo as our guest DJ. You can catch him around town as a club DJ under the name Tropidelico, and he brings that dancefloor sensibility to this mix, featuring new music from Manu Chao, Jamaican dub, Afrobeat, and more. Hear My KUTX with Superfónicos on Saturday, July 27 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime right here.
