If every song is a story, then every songwriter has stories about those songs.
That’s the idea behind this new series from KUTX, The Hole Story. Taped live on the little front stage of Hole in the Wall – we’ve invited artists to not just perform, but also share the inspiration, meaning, or backstory behind each one.
This week’s episode features Jade Bird. The British singer-songwriter broke through in the U.S. in 2018 with “Lottery,”. In this episode, she looks back at that song with a very different perspective, talks about the relationships and experiences behind her writing, and performs songs including music from her album, Who Wants to Talk About Love? Jade also has some Austin history – living here for a couple of years before relocating to LA. In October of 2025, she returned to Austin for The Hole Story, joining us at Hole in the Wall for a stripped-back set and the stories behind the songs.
