A new KUTX series featuring stripped-down 30 minute sets and behind-the-music storytelling, recorded live at Austin’s historic Hole in the Wall.
New episodes drop weekly starting January 16 on the KUTX YouTube channel and on-air Tuesdays at 10pm on KUTX 98.9fm.
If every song is a story, then every songwriter has stories about those songs. The Hole Story is a new KUTX series featuring stripped-down sets and behind-the-music storytelling, recorded live on the historic front stage of Hole in the Wall in front of an intimate audience of Concert Club members.
For over 50 years, this legendary Austin dive bar has been providing space for artists to cut their musical teeth – giving early stage time to artists like Blaze Foley, Spoon, Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, Shakey Graves, Gary Clark Jr. and more.
In each 30-minute episode, artists perform four stripped-back songs and share the inspiration, meaning, or backstory behind each one. Think VH1 Storytellers meets MTV Unplugged – and make it Texas.
Season one features stories and sets from Shinyribs, Paige Renée Berry (Half Dream), Jonathan Terrell, Grace Sorensen, Hayes Carll, Carrie Fussell (BRUCE, Calliope Musicals), and Alex Maas (The Black Angels). Episodes drop every Friday on the KUTX YouTube channel, and air Tuesdays at 10pm on KUTX 98.9fm.
