It was just one of those things. Your humble Austin Music Minute maven heard about Subspace in passing, through a couple of casual recommendations. “You should check ’em out.” And I did, most fortunately.
The local indie alt.-rock quartet, known for their high-energy live performances, has a gritty sound that’s been likened to early-era Smashing Pumpkins, Pavement and Sonic Youth – completely raw, edgy and experimental on different levels. And much can be enjoyed about the onstage banter, since the band mates prefer shouting at each other over the din than using mics. Something about that is just perfect…
Do it. Check ’em out. See Subspace play tonight at Red 7, 611 E. 7th St., with Black Forest Fire, Brotherhood Electric and The History Department. Doors open at 8 p.m. Recommended.
