Gorgeous lo-fi is an art form. Alison’s Halo has a new EP, Skywide, on the way…
Phoenix, AZ shoegaze/dreampop outfit Alison’s Halo was formed in 1992 by vocalist and guitarist Catherine Cooper, guitarist Adam Cooper, bassist David Rogers and drummer/percussionist Roger Brogan. It was only a matter of months before they secured shows with nationally known ‘90s names like Medicine, Stereophonics, The Verve and many others, along with invitations to several music festivals.
Their 1998 debut LP Eyedazzler features a collection of tracks recorded between 1992 to 1996. Last year the band released today’s AMM-featured track “Happy”, a single spanning three decades, recorded with a combination of lo-fi and hi-fi equipment and an eight-track cassette portable mini studio. Their new single “So Far Away” is just out today, both from the forthcoming EP Skywide.
Alison’s Halo brings their tour through Austin tonight for a show at 29th Street Ballroom. Doors at 7 p.m., with a line-up featuring San Antonio noise pop outfit fawn and San Marcus/Austin shoegazers ladyluck.
