The following post may be the result of too much coffee, but just pause for a moment with this one. Take a look at the lovely juxtaposition between strength and vulnerability. Is it really that black and white? Considering that the definition of bravery (the strength side) is going ahead and doing something despite being terrified (the vulnerable side) of the consequences manifesting from the decisions you make.
Mariclaire Glaeser, songwriter and front woman of today’s featured AMM artist Shy Beast, explores the theme with the electro-pop outfit’s new single “My Stride.” The track “is a reference to the heavy feelings that come with all the different choices you are presented in life,” MC explains. “It represents the moment of freedom you experience by simply picking a direction, or a way of being, and running with it.” Even if picking a direction may not be that simple.
Shy Beast celebrates the release of “My Stride” with a killer party tonight at the Mohawk, 912 Red River, on the inside stage. It’s another one of those triple treats with Otis the Destroyer alter-ego Otis Wilkins, and dark heart rockers Darkbird. Doors open at 9 p.m. Check it out after the Kimbra show. Recommended.
