India Jade Gail-Shockley married her husband, Austin, in August 2015. They are what the Austin Music Minute knows to be a true rock ‘n’ roll couple: India is a member of cosmic groove collective Golden Dawn Arkestra, and Austin plays bass for rockers The Bad Lovers (featured on today’s AMM).
Late last year, they received news that their lives were about to become twice as busy – with emphasis on the word twice. Twins are on the way, so India and Austin decided to organize a benefit show to help out with India’s maternity leave costs, and to gather donations for Planned Parenthood.
It’s a huge show happening tonight at Cheer Up Charlie’s, 900 Red River. The evening kicks off early with India’s dad, actor and musician Max Gail (Detective Stan “Wojo” Wojciehowicz on Barney Miller), who will perform with members of Golden Dawn Arkestra and friends at 7 p.m. After 9 p.m., the music continues with sets by Trouble Boys, Kay Odyssey, The Bad Lovers, Loteria and The Reputations.
You get to see all of this awesome talent in one night while helping out two very lovely individuals, members of the local music community, at the same time. Very recommended.
