AMM SXSW: Wednesday Showcases

All right, map out your strategic plans. The Austin Music Minute has these SXSW picks for your Wednesday revelry:

Modern Outsider and Riot Act Media team up for their official showcase tonight at ScratcHouse, 617 E. 7th, featuring Hard Proof, The Crookes, Moving Panoramas, Dana Falconberry and Medicine Bow, Mirror Travel (featured on today’s AMM), and Brass Bed on the outside stage; and BAMBARA, PWR BTTM, Astronauts, etc., Jess Williamson, Paul Bergmann, Jackson Boone, and Tangerine on the inside stage. The music starts at 7:30 p.m.

Super Secret Records and Twistworthy Records present a showcase at Beerland, 711 1/2 Red River, starting at 1 p.m. with Ralph White, followed by the Quinn Galavis Band, Suspirians, The Ex-Optimists, New Berlin, Mydolls Music, Nameless Frames, plus a special guest on the patio at 6 p.m., and inside Beerland at 7 p.m.; then nighttime performances by Ghost Knife, John Wesley Coleman III, Economy Island, Carl Sagan’s Skate Shoes, Burn Out, Art Acevedo, Boss Eye, and Evil Triplet. It’s a late night, but you can sleep when you’re dead, baby.

And a handful of must-see performances happening tonight:

Thao & The Get Down Stay Down 11 p.m. at the Parish, 214 E. 6th St.

-London-based band Yuck 11:15 p.m. at The Sidewinder, E. 7th St.

-Seattle band Night Beats 1:15 a.m. at Barracuda, 611 E. 7th St.

-Brooklyn band Dead Leaf Echo 10 p.m. at Tellers, 607 Trinity St.

-Last but not least, near and dear to your AMM host’s heart, Austin band The Bad Lovers 9 p.m. at Hotel Vegas, 1500 E. 6th St.
