Behold this feast for the ears and eyes! Don’t blink, because most of it may fly right past you at various blinding speeds. Or…maybe…in slooow motion…
The third annual Austin Music Video Festival has this magical way of bombarding the senses with every manner of idea, beautiful and bizarre, ever applied to music videos. This year’s collection of featured artists has no shortage of pulse-quickening excitement, special effects, creativity and reverential homage in their respective video productions, not to mention – dare we say it? – titillation. Well, hellooo there.
This year’s AMVF started off with a bang last night, and continues tonight with the delightfully heart-jolting “Violent Vidz” presentation at Alamo Drafthouse Ritz, 320 E. 6th St., and local synth/analog label Holodeck Records Video Showcase at The North Door, 501 Brushy St. Take your pick; both start at 8 p.m. The Ritz showings also include a presentation of Phoenix‘s short film Ti Amo Speciale, directed by Warren Fu, at 9 p.m., while Holodeck throws a massive afterparty at The North Door.
Check out the AMVF website for a complete schedule with times, locations, and video synopses. And, as featured on today’s Austin Music Minute, make plans to join Walker Lukens for a fabulous video retrospective, karaoke sing-a-longs and live music performance at 1 p.m. this Saturday at The Ritz.
So recommended it hurts.
