Two stages of awesome at Far Out, and downtown nighttime shows. It’s another damn great weekend.
You’ve got a whole weekend’s worth of live music to check out at Austin Psych Fest at Far Out Lounge and Stage. The best your AMM host can do is direct you toward a few personal faves, right? Go forth and conquer. And hydrate.
- Today’s picks from the AMM include longtime faves Chicano Batman and Lido Pimienta, who are doing some tour dates together; plus Courtney Barnett, the madness that is Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, and psychedelic cumbia punk from the marvelous Tropa Magica.
- On Saturday, cast a circle for all the witch bands – Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Witch, AMM fave L.A. Witch, and All Them Witches; plus San Diego instrumental trio Earthless, absolute must-see Ghostwoman, and festival founders The Black Angels.
- An excellent wrap-up to the festival on Sunday, featuring another longtime AMM fave Still Corners, along with Kurt Vile and the Violators, Dehd, and Mikela Davis.
Extra badass points for Austin bands kicking off the festival each day: Large Brush Collection today at 3:30 p.m., Thor & Friends tomorrow at 3:15 p.m., and Van Mary on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Nighttime shows continue tonight downtown, including today’s AMM-featured artist METZ with Gouge Away at The Parish; AMM loves Lord Friday the 13th playing the Zachary Thaks reunion show tomorrow at The 13th Floor; and Nolan Potter’s Nightmare Band album release show Sunday at 13th Floor, presented by Spaceflight Records.
Remember, these are all just a few selections. Find the full Austin Psych Fest schedule at Levitation’s website.
