Beautiful Oddity

For the Austin Music Minute, showing love for local bands often seems to go hand in hand with showing love for some of the best after-party shows around. Take, for example, the one following HAIM‘s performance tonight at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater. It’s a double dose of colorful, glimmering, starry-eyed pop with Tele Novella and The Sour Notes.

Following their recent premiere of their surrealistic, quirky new video for “Coat-tail Rider” on CMJ, Tele Novella will head out for a brief but busy tour starting tomorrow with a show in Norman, OK, and return in early May after their gig in Beaumont, TX. The Sour Notes had their song “Do What May” premiere last week on Exclaim as a preview of their forthcoming full-length album, due for release later this spring.

These two bands are definite must-see’s. Tele Novella and The Sour Notes play on Stubb’s indoor stage, 801 Red River, after 9:30 p.m. Recommended.
