Futuristic mystic. Space Is Still the Place is BLSH’s soundscape of the Future South.

AMM June 20 2025

The Bright Light Social Hour tomorrow at Mohawk, with Grandmaster, Megafauna, LLUUVVII and BRUCE.

Ten years ago, The Bright Light Social Hour released their second LP, Space Is Still The Place, the title an homage to the 1974 Afro-futuristic Sun Ra film. Space is BLSH’s own testament to the expanded exploration of traditional soul, rock and blues sounds combined with dance, house, techno and psych music. The intentional mix of these elements was inspired by their tour through the Southern U.S. and the struggles of fans who gave them a place to stay. Space became not only the band’s vision of a better future, but of their own stylistic evolution.

Join The Bright Light Social Hour as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of Space Is Still The Place at their Endless Light solstice festival tomorrow at Mohawk. And for this show, they’re gonna use both stages. It’s a siiiick line-up featuring the sacred order funk/jazz/rock and R&B, Grandmaster; grunged-up prog rockers Megafauna; new-soul art rockers LLUVII; and Carrie Fussell’s musique sensuelle supreme BRUCE. Doors at 6:30 p.m. Truly a family affair.
