Chasen Wayne at Sagebrush

The Austin Music Minute is supported by Howler Brothers, an Austin-based designer of creative outdoor apparel since 2011, and by Planet K, Austin’s local hemp emporium since 1990.

Trouble always seemed to be around the corner. That experience is at the heart of Chasen Wayne’s sound.

Love Austin Music Month: Chasen Wayne residency show tomorrow at Sagebrush.

Music is a lifesaver, and Chasen Wayne will be the first one to tell you. He’s lived it. Survived is more like it. A life of addiction and too many close calls forced Wayne to reevaluate priorities. At the top of the list: His beautiful family, and music. Every struggle and bit of soul-searching provides the foundation for Wayne’s alt.-country style infused with psych, jazz and rock.

On today’s AMM Love Austin Music Month feature is the single “Riptide” from Wayne’s third LP Corpus, a concept record examining his father’s shortcomings, and his own, as a parent, and the cautionary tale that may have unfolded for Wayne’s own son had he not made some major life changes.

A new album, The Diamond Saloon, is set for a summer release date in August. In the meantime, catch Chasen Wayne & The Honky Tonk Machine at their Thursday bi-weekly residency shows at Sagebrush. The next one is tomorrow, 8-11 p.m.
