In 2002, Dr. Dog independently released their first album, Toothbrush. That was sixteen years ago – damn close to two decades of basically very little time between recording albums and constant touring. When their last album Abandoned Mansions (a project benefitting the Southern Poverty Law Center) was released in 2016, things had reached a burnout point.
But following a much-deserved break for creative and personal growth, the band’s sounding rejuvenated with this year’s psyched-out pop-rock LP Critical Equation. And you have the chance to hear for yourself when Dr. Dog performs tonight at ACL Live at the Moody Theater, 310 Willie Nelson Blvd. The show starts at 8 p.m. with Son Little opening.
