The Austin Music Minute is supported by Howler Brothers, an Austin-based designer of creative outdoor apparel since 2011, and by Planet K, Austin’s local hemp emporium since 1990.
It’s been awhile, but that Wildfire never stopped burning.
Diehard fans know the music never goes away; it’s just put on pause. In Crooks‘ case, it was a ten-year hiatus, but their music burns as brightly as ever. Ray Benson himself compared it to the distinctly Texas brand of country by the legendary Doug Sahm.
Featured as the KUTX July Artist of the Month in 2015, Crooks unleashed a blend of Tex-Mex, trad. country and country rock on their LP Wildfire, kicking up the heat in this blazing follow-up to their 2012 full-length debut The Rain Will Come.
Though the line-up’s different, you’ll see several familiar faces in Crooks’ current iteration for the big return tonight at Antone’s. Doors at 7 p.m. Jacob Alan Jaeger opens the show.
