It’s almost here. Liz Burrito releases her second studio LP into the world.
Tomorrow, July 4, marks its official arrival. How’s that for fireworks? Liz Burrito (multi-talented badass artist Elizabeth Herrera) recorded her latest LP Cry About It at Louie Lino‘s Resonate studio in Austin, and she’s been beside herself with anticipation. As a preview, today’s AMM features the single “Spirits Of The Hidden Cloud”.
“This is a reincarnation of an old Liz Burrito song that I once recorded with Gangster Rainbow,” Herrera says about the track. “It sounds nothing like the original, and there are more lyrics. It was an old forgotten song that I thought needed to come back to life.”
In many ways, it’s reflective of the direction Liz Burrito is venturing toward on the new record, lyrically and stylistically, slightly shifting gears from lo-fi into something sharper. Still, as you’ll hear on “Spirits Of The Hidden Cloud,” the raw Liz Burrito aesthetic remains a prominent and awesome presence.
Liz Burrito just celebrated the new release with a party at Antone’s Record Shop, but who says there has to be only one party?! Catch the next party tomorrow night at Hotel Vegas on the indoor stage, with The Et Ceteras sharing the bill. Doors at 6 p.m., with the music starting at 7 p.m. Only happy tears here.
