Done Stole My Heart

Full disclosure: Your humble Austin Music Minute got to know songwriter and musician Beth Chrisman during her stint as part of the Project ATX6 crew a couple of years back, traveling with her, the group and project director/founder Chris Brecht to Angers, France and Toronto during the musicians’ group tour. Although, to be fair, the introduction to Chrisman was really made through The Carper Family. To use the words of bluegrass artist Devon Leger, it became quite evident that Chrisman is “a firebrand, and one hell of a performer!”

The fiddler, banjo-picker, guitarist, and singer delivers a fierce and fabulous style of bluegrass, hillbilly and all manner of musical twang like no other. Chrisman has performed on shows like Mountain Stage and A Prairie Home Companion, played more than her share of  U.S. & international music festivals and official Folk Alliance International and SXSW showcases, and received recognition from the Independent Music Awards (IMA) for her songs “Cold, Dark & Lonely” (Best Americana Song) and “Foolish Ramblin’ Man” (Best Country Song). We’re talkin’ one-woman tour de force, honey.

These are just a few of the reasons it will do you good to see Beth Chrisman and Friends during her September musical residency, every Thursday night this month, at the Swan Dive, 615 Red River. It’s a guaranteed great time because Chrisman knows how to put on a damn fine show with friends. Tomorrow’s guest is honky-tonkin’ Americana/Texicana band Silo Road. Doors open at 9:30 p.m.

Good times for all. Raise that whiskey glass and watch the magic unfold. Very recommended.
