It’s a winning deal for a glorious weekend – you get to float leisurely down the river, and you get an earful of awesome music. That’s what Float Fest is all about.
Music lovers and float freaks will head out to San Marcos for Float Fest 2015, tomorrow and Saturday, for – are you ready? – about 3 1/2 hours of tubing out at Cool River Ranch in Martindale, followed by a massive bill of both touring and local music artists performing live. It’s a diverse mix: Phantogram, Quiet Company, Local Natives, Purple, Otis the Destroyer, Ghostland Observatory, Robert Ellis, Mobley, Sarah Jaffe, Devin the Dude, The Digital Wild…and so many more. Let’s just say, it’s huge. There’s a lot to take in, so it’s good that fest-goers get to camp on site.
However, as if all that weren’t enough, you’ve got a Float Fest pre-party to reckon with that’s just as loaded with bands, happening tonight at Empire Control Room, 606 E. 7th St. This is one full night of awesomeness: Sphynx, Letting Up Despite Great Faults (featured on today’s Austin Music Minute), Shivery Shakes, Alex Napping, Gold Beach, Slomo Drags, Young Tongue, Tamarron and Velo.
Everything kicks off at around 8 p.m. Kind of overwhelming, but what a great problem to have. Check it all out.
