You don’t need the AMM to tell you how cool this show is. But just in case…
Just giving you enough notice so you don’t miss out Friday night. Hole In the Wall is hosting a line-up of Austin music royalty guaranteeing you’ll check off quite a bit on your must-see list. Don’t sleep on this one.
- Were you there from the start with Cotton Is King (1994), or did Kontiki (1997) reel you in? Maybe you’re rediscovering 2016’s Death of the Cool (because HOLY HELL, “Close to the Sun”!!), or perhaps The Big Picture (2001) has a permanent home on your playlist. All of it’s legit. Those hook-heavy melodies have earned Cotton Mather the highest praises, like an American band straight out of ’60s British Invasion pop.
- Speaking of legit, a rightful brag is in order because Spoon‘s Britt Daniel agrees with the AMM on this: Butterfly On A Bomb Range is an awesome album. Feast your ears upon the power pop/rock goodness by The Rite Flyers.
- Also for your collection – the spectacular self-titled debut on Flak Records by Austin post-punk/power pop trio The Stayres. Every damn track slays on their first full-length. AMM picks include “Suzie and the Bummer Machine,” opener “Western Wear” to rattle you up, the irresistible “Sweethearts”, and “How You Wanna Blow Your Mind?”
Don’t miss a single set this Friday at Hole In the Wall. Doors at 8 p.m., music at 9 p.m.
