From Triple to Quadruple

Time for full disclosure on this tasty morsel of an Austin Music Minute: You may know that your AMM hostess works on a music-related project that has picked up quite a bit of momentum as of late, The Good Music Club, which films local bands and shares the videos worldwide. The GMC was recently invited by Red Bull Sound Select to put together an impressive set of outstanding up-and-coming bands for a special showcase. We were quite fortunate to pull together this little sizzler that’s quite extraordinary, featuring four bands each from different genres, and I wanted to give AMM listeners the lowdown on the action.

These are bands that would not ordinarily play a show together – which is extra awesome, following the AMM tradition of mixing it all up! And it’s a major treat all around:  Epic indie pop band Quiet Company; outlaw country-western outfit Crooks; high-volume rockers Residual Kid; and dark folk quintet Lord Buffalo.

All of these bands can be experienced this Friday night at The North Door, at E. 5th and Brushy St. Doors open at 8 p.m. Get there early. The schedule for the evening: Lord Buffalo at 9 p.m., Residual Kid at 10 p.m., Crooks at 11 p.m., and Quiet Company at midnight.

Be there.
