Grand Canyon 95

The blooms are eternal, but S.L. Houser looks forward to the next chapter after Hibiscus.

S.L. Houser single release show Saturday at Cheer Up Charlie’s, with Lunar Gold and Honey Son.

S.L. Houser has poured out the last of the summer wine with two new singles, “When I Had Eyes” and “Grand Canyon 95,” both spectacularly produced by Adam Mason, and the latter just out today via Spaceflight Records. Though neither track previously had a spot on Hibiscus, it all marks the final chapter of this round of music as Houser looks forward to diving into new material in the near future. But oh, what a chapter it’s been.

The year started with Houser as the KUTX January Artist of the Month, spotlighting her debut EP, followed by an Austin Music Awards nomination for Musician of the Year. And Hibiscus became a testament to everything Houser poured into its creation – every inspiration, frustration, musical influence and struggle to find her own sound.

A deluxe 12-inch vinyl edition of Hibiscus (perennial) is now available for preorder via Try Hard Ltd. Vinyl. And Houser celebrates “Grand Canyon 95” with a release show tomorrow night, Saturday Aug. 24, at Cheer Up Charlie’s. It’s an excellent bill featuring Lunar Gold and Honey Son. Doors at 8 p.m.
