What a delightfully terrifying dilemma. So many good shows this weekend that you couldn’t possibly pick just one. Seriously?! Here are a handful of recs, courtesy of your Halloween-giddy Austin Music Minute host. Because we all go a little mad…sometimes.
- Tonight, Saturday Oct. 30 (or what the more devout Samhain revelers may refer to as Halloween Eve), ghouls can partake of the gargantuan Doomy Folks Music & Horror Festival at The Far Out Lounge and Stage, 8504 S. Congress Ave., including sets by Possessed By Paul James, The Ghost Wolves, Witchcryer, The Dead Coats and more; or get extra fiendish at the NO REST IN PEACE show at The ABGB, 1305 W. Oltorf, featuring Fools, BONDBREAKR, Lena Luca and Dayeater; tickets are still available for tonight’s LEVITATION show with Thundercat and Shabazz Palaces at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater, 801 Red River; and mad love to longtime AMM favorite and spooky time OG’s, the White Ghost Shivers, playing a family-friendly show at Central Market North, 4001 N. Lamar.
- Tomorrow’s Halloween shows include Nokken and The Grim performing at the grand re-opening of The Glass Coffin, now located at 3009 North I-35; Chief Cleopatra and The Vapor Caves at Phantom Fest at Central Machine Works, 4824 E. Cesar Chavez; and a massive Spaceflight Records Levitation showcase Empire Control Room, 606 E. 7th St., with Golden Dawn Arkestra, Calliope Musicals, Sailor Poon, Urban Heat, Billy King & The Bad Bad Bad, Kalu and The Electric Joint, Think No Think and Buffalo Hunt.
In the immortal words of your AMM host’s most favorite fiend, “Unpleasant dreams…!”
(And are you surprised that this gorgeous ghoul recorded a Halloween track for this label?)
