Today’s Love Austin Music Month Feature spotlights the incomparable Liz Burrito (multi-talented badass Elizabeth Herrera, for formality purposes). Songwriter, producer, guitarist, vocalist, and a strong presence in the scene with bands like Dikes of Holland, Kay Odyssey, ¿Que Pasa?, as well as being a standout solo artist. Speaking of which, the AMM got word that a new Liz Burrito album is just around the corner, recorded in Austin by producer extraordinaire Louie Lino. Liz switches the up energy this time from Hyper/Mellow‘s lo-fi awesomeness into new wave and torch song territory. Could there even be pedal steel in this magic potion?! The answer: Never say never.
It’s time for a show. Liz Burrito and a most excellent new rhythm section take over the room tomorrow night, Thursday Jan. 25 at Chess Club. It’s an extra cool line-up with Total Diamonds and The Et Ceteras. Doors at 8 p.m.
