With a big dose of thick guitar fuzz and a heavy vibe that’s plenty rough around the edges, local four piece Hooka Hey serves up a groove-laden blues rock on the dirty side. And they’re keeping it dirty, thank you very much. There’s a reverence here for the kind of serious rockin’ out that leaves you sweaty and grimy, and wanting more.
Guitarist and vocalist Hugo de Saint-Quentin informed your humble Austin Music Minute hostess that the band recently finished recording new tunes for the follow-up to their 2012 three-track EP Little Things at The Bubble Studio, so be on the lookout for a release on the not-so-distant horizon. However, chances are good that you just may hear some of the new stuff when you see Hooka Hey perform tonight at The ABGB, 1305 W. Oltorf. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. Grab a pint and raise your glass to grooves that move you. Recommended.
