The layers of talent in Hard Proof feel infinite, branching out like the baddest family tree around. Back in October, the massive nine-piece Austin-based outfit made extra room for a 16-piece extravaganza known as A FELABRATION at Far Out Lounge, honoring the music of Fela Kuti with help from Kalu James and members of Black Pumas, Golden Dawn Arkestra, and Grupo Fantasma, not to mention vocalists Akina Adderley and Angela Miller. Imagine horns, percussion and voices times ten, a super group with extra super powers.
In addition to awesome collabs like the aforementioned party, Hard Proof has been plugging away at new music, and chances are you’ll be privy to some of the new stuff if you catch their show tonight, Monday Nov. 14, at C-Boy’s Heart and Soul. They hit the stage at 10 p.m. If you’re there for happy hour, The Reverent Few does an early set at 6:30 p.m.
