Kick Up the Browngrass

Who: Sour Bridges has never been shy about putting the sass in “browngrass” – which, if you haven’t heard by now, is very much like bluegrass but with added rowdiness, randiness, and rambunctiousness. Give a spin to Catfish Charlie, and you’ll hear a mix of Texas folk, Appalachian bluegrass, and yes, a fierce rock ‘n’ roll spirit setting the whole thing on fire.

What: Sour Bridges is the featured artist in this month’s Cactus Cafe‘s “Artist In Residence” series. They’re gigging at the Cactus every Wednesday night this month.

When: You can see them tonight with Blue Healer; next Wednesday night with Harvest Thieves; and with The Statesboro Revue on the 25th. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the music starts at 8 p.m.

Where: Cactus Cafe, 24th St. and Guadalupe, in the Texas Union building on the UT Campus.

Why: All this great music, harmonizing and finger-picking will get the blood pumping. Browngrass guaranteed to match the brown in yer whiskey. Recommended.
