There’s a play on language here. La reina in Spanish translates into “the queen.” The Austin Music Minute puts before you a queen of sorts who captures the beauty, the breathtaking presence, of nature’s complex environment. Her music encapsulates so many of the delicate subtleties of these experiences that you feel you’re right there with her as she describes it. Raina Rose knows this closeness to nature well, and growing up in Portland, OR’s green lushness was a tremendous influence – not to mention the mix of ’60s pop and classic country in her family home.
Raina Rose has a band assembled for a show tonight, featuring husband and fellow musician Andrew Pressman, with Kimber Ludiker and Christopher Cox. See them perform at The Saxon Pub, 1320 S. Lamar Blvd. Matt the Electrician starts the night out at 8 p.m., followed by Rose at 10 p.m. Very recommended.
