Lala Lala (Chicago-based artist Lillie West) embraces the uproar of meaningful change on I Want The Door To Open, West’s third album as Lala Lala and very much a metamorphosis of her musical style, from a lo-fi vibe to a sharper electro-pop/rock. Within the introspective fray is the pursuit of a truer freedom, where genuine transformation occurs without second-guessing, obsessive editing (and overthinking) of one’s self-image, or any distortion through filters. It’s the transparency West desires in today’s AMM-featured track, “Color of the Pool.”
You can get the album at Lala Lala’s performance tomorrow night, Wednesday March 30, at Empire Control Room on E. 7th. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 9 p.m.
