Distance makes the heart grow fonder. It’s also made magic for David Ramirez.
Sometimes, stepping away from one’s life passion – one’s livelihood – can be a game changer. A life saver. It may have been all of that for David Ramirez, perhaps more. A personal chapter was closing in his life that required refocusing, so the Austin-based songwriter paused for an extended hiatus. Rather than regurgitating every last visceral emotion onto another recording, or in one horrible moment considering giving music up altogether, Ramirez chose instead to grieve with more introspection.
It’s just what Ramirez needed. About seven months ago, tracking was completed for his forthcoming release All the Not So Gentle Reminders, recorded at Spectra Studios. Ramirez’s latest brings that introspection into reflections on all the possibilities that lay ahead.
It’s a special occasion for David Ramirez tonight at the Paramount Theatre. In addition to headlining a performance, a dream he’s had since moving to Austin sixteen years ago, copies of his new LP will be available at the merch table ahead of its March 2025 release date. Doors at 7 p.m., and the outstanding Jon Muq opens the show.
