Why do we measure our worth in comparison to our idols? Holy Wire explores this, and just how fleeting time is…
Featuring appearances by singer/choreographer Vertarias Hankins; music artist/songwriter/event producer She23; Jammy Violet of Pelvis Wrestley; and, as a headless spirit of sorts, Nicolas Nadeau of Single Lash.
Accompanying the release of Holy Wire’s “Lost” is a new video directed by Colleen Zickler and Angela Herr, starring a bewildered-looking Alain Paradis surrounded by a flurry of endless text and printed word. Yet none of it can be read. The words don’t seem to connect. It all rushes quickly by as Paradis grapples with a racing anxiety.
Paradis says Holy Wire’s latest single “was borne out of the fear of falling short against the writers and artists I admire, and of the sense of losing against the clock in whatever you are trying to achieve.”
Catch Holy Wire’s single release show tomorrow night, Saturday April 14, at Chess Club on Red River, featuring darkwave trio Swiss Banks, Roland S. Robert‘s post-punk project Campaigner, and San Antonio-based artist Lynzi. Doors at 8 p.m., and the music starts at 8:30 p.m.
