Austin Music Minute

MLV Represent

Posted by on Jan 26, 2018

If you’ve been following Matthew Logan Vasquez on the ol’ Facebook, you may have caught a little ditty he put on video, concerning some major changes. It’s a mini-tune that may not make it on a new album, but it’s connected to some big news. There was Matthew, looking all rugged and frontier-like in a Davy Jones-esque cap, singing, “Movin’ to Norway / Gonna eat a lot of salmon…”

You heard correctly. MLV is Europe-bound, headed to Oslo to join wife and son and immerse himself in a new tour throughout the UK, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands next month. It’s a major bummer for Austin, and a big gain for Vasquez and Europe. But you can’t deny a flicker of pride at knowing that the Live Music Capital continues to be represented worldwide with such great talent.

Stay tuned for new music on the way. In the meantime, say bon voyage to MLV when he performs with his band tonight at Antone’s, 305 E. 5th St. Friends Go Fever and Magic Rockers of Texas are on the bill, guaranteeing excellent music and a great time all around. Doors at 8 p.m., and the music kicks off at 9.

Hugs for Vasquez. This one comes very recommended.
