It’s always good to experience at least one band that knows how to work you up into a frenzy. Good for the soul, really. One such example, out of many there are to discover in the Austin Music Experience, happens to be local quartet La Migra. Formed a couple of years ago by longtime friends Andy Anderson and Phillip Whaley, the band is a self-described “garage surf” rock ‘n’ roll outfit. There’s no end to the high energy and contagious charisma that ignites their live performances. And there’s no standing still at a La Migra show. You’ll find yourself moving in no time.
La Migra headlines a show tonight at Holy Mountain, 617 E. 7th St. The line-up includes Amarillo-based band Western Plaza, local songwriter Erin Norris, and “two dudes who play loud,” Carl Sagan’s Skate Shoes. Dang. Doors open at 8 p.m. Recommended.
